Nintendo shared its 2018 Q1 financial and sales results which include the months of April, May & June of this year. The Nintendo Switch sold 1.88 million units in the quarter bringing its total sales to 19.67 million. Former Nintendo President Kimishima turned heads earlier this year when he bandied around the idea that the popular hybrid system would sell an astonishing 20 million units this fiscal year. With less than a tenth of that selling in the first quarter, the company has its work cut out for it as it tries to reach the lofty goals they’ve set for themselves. While hardware seems to have slowed down, Software sales continue to push forward as the company exceeded 80 million units this quarter with continued strong sales of marquee titles such a Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Legend of Zelda: Breath or the Wild & Splatoon 2 and solid starts from new titles including Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze & Mario Tennis Aces.
