Mario Tennis Aces released to the world on June 22nd for the Nintendo Switch and it seems to be a hit in the companies home market of Japan. While we don’t have numbers to go off of here in North America, MediaCreate data shows the game has sold over 123 thousand units in its opening week.

For those keeping track, that’s more than double the number of copies sold by Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash on Wii U.

That’s not all. Nintendo is apparently planning to support Mario Tennis Aces long after launch in the form of DLC. Not even two weeks after its launch, the company has already announced the arrival of at least three new players starting this fall. Diddy Kong, Birdo and Koopa Paratroopa are will be among the new characters hitting the courts later this year. It has been confirmed that the trio will be made available to players as free content.
