For two consecutive years, Ubisoft has announced major partnerships with their friends in Kyoto. Last years surprise Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was the first collaboration, followed by Star Fox in Starlink: Battle for Atlas.
Yves Guillemot spoke about working with Shigeru Miyamoto during an interview with Geoff Keighley at E3 last week:
“First, we have this game coming up – Starlink – and yes we are big fans of Mr. Miyamoto. In the last 30 years, we’ve been looking at what he was doing and we learned a lot from him, so being able to approach him and his teams is really something that is a wonderful experience for all the teams in Ubisoft. They love to collaborate, to learn from him, and this time again on Star Fox, it’s a good way to learn from him.”
Guillemot was also asked about larger Ubisoft Franchises such as Assassin’s Creed seeing a release for the Nintendo Switch, to which he replied.
“We need to make sure that the brands are well-adapted to the machine and that they will fit with the public as well. When we decide to go on the machine, we are taking considerations of elements and also the capacity of the machine.”
